UNDERSTANDING OUR NATIONAL COAT OF ARMS

Share & Comment

The Coats of Arms encapsulates the Nigerian dream. If you take time to study the coat of arms, you will discover the blessings embedded for all Nigerians. Nigeria is a country well endowed; a country with variety in people, cultures and belief. There are two objects that I will use to discuss because they represent some spiritual, physical and intellectual advantages for any Nigeria

THE EAGLE
The lifespan of an eagle is 70 years. However, by age 40, the eagle is faced with a challenge; it is too heavy to fly because its feathers are full and its claws and beak are too long. The bird can either choose to wait for death because hunting becomes difficult or it goes through five painful months of renewal. During that period, it breaks its beak, pulls out its claws and feathers and waits for new ones to grow.

We have to learn to make difficult decisions to make room for change. the best way to soar again like the eagle is to let go of the old-habits, lifestyles etc and welcome new methods. Successful people the world over possess some features of this great bird.

THE HORSE

Horses depicts strength, power and royalty. Sometimes, equipment are rated using horse power. A two horsepower engine cannot be compared to a one horsepower. in battle, blazing swords do not move horses, nor is the fear of guns and bombs,  the concern of the horse is taking its boss to battle. The strength, boldness and speed of the horse is what is depicted in our Coats of Arms.

In order to build a great nation, I believe we need the vision of an Eagle and the strength of a horse. These two animals have the features and quality that are the keys OBEYING THE NATIONAL ANTHEM AND PLEDGE. We need to study these two animals keenly to drive towards success in Nigeria.
